Ceremony Rules & What to Know

Please follow all park rules during your ceremony. These regulations help protect the area and ensure events can take place without interruption.

General Use & Public Access

  • The permit for this ceremony location does not provide exclusive use of the area.
  • Events must not obstruct trails, stairs, or otherwise prevent the public from using the area during your ceremony.
  • No vegetation may be cut.
  • All State Land Use Rules, including Parks & Recreation Rules and Forest Recreation Land Use Rules and Regulations, apply to this permit.

Recreation Passport

  • A Recreation Passport is required for entry into the Little Presque Isle, Wetmore Landing, and Wetmore Pond areas.
  • Passports may be obtained through the Secretary of State, any State Park or Customer Service Center, or by purchasing one at the self-registration stations located in the main Little Presque Isle and Wetmore Landing parking areas.
  • A Commercial Recreation Passport is required for all commercially owned vehicles. A standard Recreation Passport is required for all other vehicles.

Driving & Parking

  • Parking is limited. Please carpool whenever possible.
  • Parking is not permitted along County Road 550 unless authorized by local law enforcement and the Marquette County Road Commission.

Chairs & Ceremony Equipment

  • Chairs are permitted for guest seating during the ceremony.
  • All chairs must be removed from the premises immediately following the event.

Decorations & Materials

  • Decorations must be self-contained, removable, and freestanding.
  • Decorations may not be attached or hung from trees, shrubs, or plants.
  • The following are not permitted:
    • Paint
    • Confetti
    • Birdseed
    • Rice
  • All ceremony items, including flowers, arbors, and decorations, must be removed immediately following the ceremony.
  • Flowers may not contain seeds that could fall and spread invasive species.

Fires, Alcohol & Pets

  • Open fires are not permitted, except in a self-contained cooking unit or within a fire ring or grill located in a designated campsite or day-use area west of County Road 550.
  • Glass containers are prohibited except within designated camping areas west of County Road 550.
  • Alcoholic beverages may not be possessed or consumed east of County Road 550, including for wedding toasts.
  • Pets must remain leashed within designated quiet and day-use areas.

Sound & Power

  • Loudspeakers, public address systems, and other sound amplification equipment may be used for the ceremony only.
  • Generators are not permitted to power sound systems.
  • A small battery-operated Bluetooth speaker is recommended.

Cleanup & Departure

  • No litter may be left on the property.
  • All chairs, decorations, flowers, arbors, and other ceremony items must be removed immediately following the event.
